Define the learning question

Before entering a new market, identify what the participant needs to understand: a customer expectation, a supply-chain practice, a management approach or an operating constraint. A focused question gives experience a purpose.

Participate in actual work

Useful experience involves responsibilities, feedback and a record of contribution. Observation and short visits have their place, but they should be described as such. Work assignments require appropriate employment arrangements and permission to perform the work.

Compare without oversimplifying

A practice that succeeds in one context may depend on local institutions, team capabilities or customer behaviour. Reflect on those conditions before importing the practice into the home enterprise.

Bring the learning back

Translate observations into a proposed change, a small test and a review. This is the development logic behind GSRP: connect experience to an enterprise question and a practical contribution. It remains a programme design approach, not a claim of proven causal impact.
