Twelve-week programme
Weekly groups and one-to-one mentoring from a student’s own question to a design cleared for fabrication; indicative fee US$2,980.
The Magellan Young Silicon Residency Program takes students aged 12 to 17 from a question of their own to a chip of their own: designed on the Magellan Silicon Studio with mentors and an AI assistant, fabricated through Taiwan’s semiconductor supply chain, and taken to science fairs, robotics competitions and student journals. Operated by Magellan Global beside GSRP, and a brand of the group.
Most young people who build robots or electronics assemble a standard microcontroller and write code for it; the chip inside is somebody else’s. Magellan Silicon starts one level deeper. A student brings a question of their own, designs the logic that answers it, proves it on an FPGA, submits it for fabrication on a shared wafer and measures the silicon that comes back. The programme is the group’s own: its engineers in Taipei mentor and sign off, MTRI studies how young people learn to frame problems with AI, and the results travel to the competitions and journals that recognise original work.

Weekly groups and one-to-one mentoring from a student’s own question to a design cleared for fabrication; indicative fee US$2,980.
Blocks, text or AI as three views of one design, on open-source chip-design tools; no commercial EDA licence for any family or school.
Two booked shuttle routes per cohort; packaging, test boards and measurement by the group’s Taipei engineers; silicon measured against simulation.
Venue mapping, writing guidance and judging rehearsal for ISEF-affiliated fairs, open-hardware robotics competitions and student journals.
An optional in-person week among the engineers and facilities that made the chip; travel arranged with WG Global.
A teacher-led cohort with teacher training, mentor support and a fabrication allocation, from US$14,000 per ten places.
The student designs; the mentor reviews and signs off; the AI assistant explains, checks and records. The division of work is generated into a disclosure statement, so judges and admissions readers can see exactly who did what.
Real silicon, honestly described: every student receives their own fabricated chip, and outcomes are stated at three levels of certainty with no promise of awards or admission.
One pathway with GSRP: the same principle, knowledge, judgement and opportunity, from a first project to enterprise leadership, studied by MTRI as it runs.
How this brand contributes to Magellan Global’s long-term operating model.
The Studio’s assistant is built with MTRI on the principles behind AKE: it explains before it generates, records every exchange and asks why, so authorship stays with the student.
A first crossing from software into hardware, manufacturing and an international stage; knowledge, judgement and opportunity accumulated at the scale of a first project.
Fabrication, measurement and the Taipei week draw on the group’s engineering base in Taiwan; AJPE supports family education planning; LegalMatrix keeps the student IP policy.
The group’s two parent-operated programmes share one axis of talent growth: outstanding participants may later be introduced to GSRP-related internships and the talent network.
These connections describe the group strategy. They do not imply that every platform already shares data or that every integration is live. Access, availability and professional appointments are agreed for each engagement.
A fourteen-year-old in Singapore who builds competition robots wants to know whether a purpose-built circuit can cut the latency of her robot’s sensor processing. Over twelve weeks she assembles and then rewrites the design on the Studio, proves it on the FPGA board, and submits it for fabrication. When the chip returns she measures it against a microcontroller and the FPGA, writes the study with the outcomes pack, and enters her regional ISEF-affiliated fair. AJPE helps the family fit the project into her school planning; the Taipei week shows her where the chip was made.
